How to Create a Facebook Business Account in 11 Easy Steps

As I was telling you a while ago, Business Facebook accounts have their advantages over regular, personal ones. In this article I’ll outline 11 easy steps to sign up for a business account and post your first status update.

Step 1: Point your browser to http://facebook.com. Leave the Signup form blank and click the Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business link below.

Step 2: Pick the type of business from the drop-down field, enter a name for the page and click to confirm that you are an official representative.

Step 3: You will be asked to either fill in your current Facebook login information or create a new account.

Be advised that, under the Facebook Terms of Service, you are not allowed to create multiple accounts. If you are one individual managing more online presences, you should link them all to your existing account. For this example, we will create a new Facebook account.

image Step 4: If all the information you entered is correct, you should receive a confirmation message and be asked to check your mailbox for the confirmation link.

Step 5: Check your email and click the activation link.

Step 6: Once everything is set up, you can view the control panel of your new business account page.

Step 7: Your profile looks kind of bare. So let's add a bit to identify it with your business more. Start by adding our company logo. Click Upload an Image.

Step 8: Let’s tell our customers about our company’s new social media presence. Facebook provides you with an easy way of inviting your contacts to join in if you have a Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo account. Click on Import contacts.

Step 9: Choose the contacts you want to invite to your new Facebook page.

Hit Preview Invitation and fire away. Your contacts will be notified of your new page.

Step 10: Now that we’ve invited some fans, let us provide them with some details on our company. Click Edit page under Provide some basic information. Fill in the details on your business address, a general description of your activity and working hours.

Step 11: Everything should be up and running by now. Let’s post an update!

There you go, your new Facebook page is up and running. You can now add more pictures, invite fans or post more status updates.
