Hey Jason,

Just a thought...have you tried refining the way you collect information online? Requesting more detailed information from your visitors before you allow them to contact you will allow you to pre-qualify your leads and weed out the individuals who aren't serious.

If you setup a form that requires more indepth information to be provided before they can contact you, and you don't provide an alternate means (other than a phone), I'd be willing to bet you'd reduce the amount of leads that waste your time.

Websites are an affordable way to get your message out but I would say at least some small or newer businesses would be better served by maintaining a web presence on a site that wasn't there own more so then creating a site and letting it sit.

My business, rent to own houses, I originally believed would absolutely require having a website... However despite getting hundreds of visits and at least 100 emails a month I can honestly say I believe I could easily do without it... However I could not do without my web presence..

The reason being the people contacting me through the website are usually people who aren't willing to invest the time and effort of picking up the phone so I find myself wasting hours and hours answering emails every month with almost 0 benefit.

Meanwhile almost 200 families a month call me off my web ads and even though those ads also include our website address.. Almost none of the callers bothered to visit the website..

Don't ask me why it is like this as I never would have believed it.. But I suspect my industry is one of handful in existence who go against the rule of needing a website.

However once you have an established business of any kind I really don't think it wise to not have a website of your own.
